This Sunday evening, there will be two wonderful opportunities for you to choose between, at 6:00 pm. The Tiftarea Community Thanksgiving Service will be at 6:00pm, at First Baptist Church. Rev. Stacey Phillips, the new senior minister at Northside Baptist is the guest preacher. I’ve always enjoyed this community service, where the churches of Tifton come together to give thanks! We didn’t have one last year, with COVID, but the prior year Pat Bennett led the singing, and the year before that, I was asked to bring the message. There were no plans in place for a service this year, when we were contacted about hosting an informational meeting for Traditional Methodists, about what comes next in South Georgia. We said yes to hosting the event, after informing the District Superintendent, and after that, the Tiftarea Ministerial Association agreed to resume the regular community service. I was a part of that meeting, and it never dawned on me that it was the same night as the meeting we were hosting.
So, Trevor and I will be at the other event that night, as we host an informational meeting for Traditional Methodists, at Tifton First UMC, at 6:00pm. Judge John Stephenson and Mr. Russ Allen, United Methodist laymen from Albany will present, along with Rev. Jimmy Towson and Rev. B.J. Funk. Trevor will be leading the music, as Pat will be enroute to Oklahoma.
Both of these opportunities are worth your time. I hope you will support one of them this week. Help us have a good representation for Tifton First at the Thanksgiving service, and help us have a good representation here. Thank you for the many ways you represent Tifton First every day!
