…and wonders of His love…

“Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.”

Psalm 17:7

I love the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas are such a special time. Everyone in our family has a crazy schedule, so we get together when we can over several weeks. This means we get to celebrate more! We focus on just being together, hanging out, enjoying the decorations, having some good food and snacks, and just relaxing. No stress! As time goes on and we do not age backwards, we realize more and more how much we love each other. I think it is so common to get wrapped up in the planning and shopping and preparing that we lose sight of why we are celebrating.

We are also expectant and preparing for the arrival of our Savior. I often think during this season about how much God loves us to have sent His only Son to save us from our sins. His love for us began in Genesis. He called for light out of nothing. He created us to be His companions, to love and be loved. We failed Him in the beginning and fail Him daily, yet He still loves us enough to forgive and show us love and mercy that we certainly have not earned. And that’s the thing, we could never earn what He gives us freely. He gives us His limitless love and promise of redemption. Jesus came as that promise. He was love incarnate.

I thank God every day in my prayers for loving me and loving us all so much that He is here right beside us in all our trials and also the good days. Where would we be without Him?

Our Dear Father, thank you for loving us and helping us to see others as you see them. Help us to love them as you love us. Show us how to live and love every day the way that you would have us to. Thank you for your greatest gift of Jesus on that Christmas day. Amen.
