Love

When I think of the word LOVE, my mind goes straight to Mary. Oh what love she felt for her savior, husband, and son.  Mary was the definition of a good and faithful servant.  When the Angel spoke to Mary, I am sure she felt a tremendous fear. Not only for the shame that she may have to endure, but the fear of a virgin becoming the mother of the Savior of the World. She had fear of losing her future husband, public humiliation, and fear of the unknown.  As the Angel of the Lord tells her “You have found favor with God” her reply was simple … “I am the Lord’s servant.”

How many times has our God asked each of us for a small favor, and did we reply, “I am here Lord, I have heard you calling my name.”  Our family has recently heard that calling.  First Methodist Tifton welcomed us with open arms.  It is our honor to serve God and experience the love this church has to offer.

As a mother, I’m not sure I would have been as strong as Mary. She had to share her son with the world.  As tears run down my cheeks, I cannot fathom the pain and anguish she felt as she witnessed her son being hung on the cross to save strangers for hundreds of years to come.  One of my favorite Christmas songs is “Mary Did You Know.”  Did she know at the time that her baby boy would walk on water, save our sons and daughters,  and provide us with eternal life?  I only pray that I can be as humble, strong and faithful as Mary.

As we come into this Christmas season my prayer is simple.  Our Heavenly Father , thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to the Virgin Mary. Thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.  That you for the Holy Spirit that dwells in us today.  May we be a light to others and let YOUR GLORY shine through us. Give us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness  and keep our faith strong through good times and troubled times.  May we rejoice in your word and let your Spirit be our guide.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
