Peace
“Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”
Psalms 34:14
Where do you find peace on a day-to-day basis?
Do you ever struggle to find what you are looking for?
Where is this peace, or who has this peace, that we are to pursue?
This can be a challenge, but there is a peace that we all can find!
I believe that true peace comes, and is found, when we look completely to Jesus. If I am honest with myself, the Lord, and you, I must admit that I see every day how weak I am, how little I know and how much more I need to trust in him.
There are a few constants that I have found that seem to go hand in hand with true peace, when I read God’s word…faith, love, a thankful heart, and His grace.
Because of God’s love and His grace we can come to Jesus…
“4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:4 – 10
By faith in Jesus, giving thanks through His grace, true peace can be found, all because He loves us so much! We can love because of His great love which allows us peace overflowing with thanks.
“14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:14 – 17
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
Luke 14:27
I am thankful for the peace that he promises us!
Every morning that we wake up, we have choices –
Am I choosing to trust Jesus? Am I choosing to grow in faith? Am I choosing to give thanks? Am I choosing to lean on His grace? Do I choose peace? What are you choosing today?
Dear Heavenly Father,
We give thanks to you, through your Son, Jesus Christ. We come to you, a Holy God, knowing we are unworthy, but that through the deliverance of your son, Jesus Christ we may come to you now. We are asking you today to forgive us, when we lack to trust in you and to seek the peace that only you can give. Please cover us today in the mercy and grace that you provide in Jesus’ name. Thank you for loving us so much! We rejoice and give thanks for all our many blessings and choose the peace that only you can provide for our hearts today! In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
