Hope
“And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in You.”

Terezin is a town in the Czech Republic that was used as a concentration camp for over 150,000 Jews and other “undesirables” by the Nazis during World War II. 15,000 of those prisoners were children. Only 17,000 souls survived. This camp housed many artists, musicians, scholars, and various intellectuals, and was cleaned up from time to time to be used as propaganda by the Nazis.
Several years ago Richard and Gina Kingsmore visited Terezin. Richie was so touched by what he experienced there that he wrote a musical piece for orchestra entitled “Terezin.” Unfortunately, he couldn’t publish it because, as he said, “there is no hope.” Later on, as he began to think about his work, he remembered Corrie Ten Boom, a Christian who provided hope to many Jews by hiding them in her home, until she herself was captured by the Nazis. Richie recalled the song “You Are My Hiding Place” and added it to “Terezin,” and his arrangement was published with a statement of hope.

We have an even more glorious and wonderful hope: Jesus Christ. He came to this earth to save us from our sins and give us hope. This is not a vain hope; this is a hope that is true and definite. We know that Christ came, and He will come again. We know that if we believe in Him as our Savior, we have the sure hope of eternal life and life with Him in glory.
Two questions for you:
Have you accepted Christ as your Savior?
If not, will you accept His free gift of hope and salvation today?
Dear Lord, thank You for Your free gift of hope and eternal life. We know we cannot earn this gift; it is free to us, paid for by Your blood. Thank you for the confidence we have in You. In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.
