Tifton First United Methodist Women Support Local Charities

The Women’s Ministry at Tifton First United Methodist is one of the church’s many vibrant ministries. According to the former chair of the group, Jane Gray, the group focuses on “fellowship and spiritual growth among the women of the church.”

One of the main purposes of the Tifton First Women’s Ministry is to reach out to local organizations and assist in meeting the needs of these groups. However, as with many groups, clubs, and organizations, operations were put on hold with the COVID 19 pandemic. In the past several months, as things have returned to normal, the group is regaining some momentum.

The Tifton Women currently have initiated a plan to meet needs in several areas.

“We reach out to local charities and try to help with things that they need,” said current chair Marcia Hoffman. The list of charities supported by the Tifton First Women include Call to Care, Meals on Wheels, CASA, and Camp Club, a group that supports the growth of young men. The group has also collected more than forty stuffed toy animals that will be given to the Tifton Police Department, which will then be given to children at the scene of an accident or incident.

“Everyone has been so appreciative of what we are doing,” Hoffman said.

Tifton First Senior Pastor Chip Grantham recognizes the importance of the TFUMC Women’s Group.

“It is an opportunity for fellowship and service,” Grantham said, “and it increases the bond among the women of the church.”

The Tifton First Women plan to meet for an evening of fellowship and work on April 17 in the TFUMC Social Hall. The group will spend a couple of hours putting together bags of needed items that will be delivered to the appropriate charities. The evening will also include a light supper.

“All women are invited to anything that we do,” Hoffman added.
