Bennett Returns to the Kennedy Center

TIFTON – Tifton First Methodist Church Director of Music Ministries, Dr. Pat Bennett, is taking his talents on the road again.

Monday evening, February 3rd, Pat will join the orchestra as “Saviour,” a contemporary oratorio is presented at the famed Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Once again Pat will play his French Horn in the orchestra as this is the second time he has had the opportunity to perform on the Kennedy Center stage. In November of 2023 Pat was a part of the True North Orchestra as it backed the Annie Moses Band. That production included appearances by actor Jim Caviezel and country music artist Clay Walker.

“I’m grateful that I get to keep doing this,” Pat said prior to his departure for Washington and two days of intense rehearsals.

“We’ll rehearse Sunday evening and all-day Monday before the concert Monday night,” Pat said.

The Kennedy Center event is not the only time Pat will be taking his talents on the road this year as he is planning a trip to Hungary this summer to perform with New Life Symphonies.

From June 5th through June 14th Pat will be a part of the Global Missions Project.

“By being a part of an instrumental group we can go into countries that don’t allow singing songs about the gospel,” Pat said.

In addition to performing, there will also be an educational element to this trip.

“We’ll be working with local musicians and encouraging performing in the churches,” explained Pat. The group will also be taking equipment to donate to local programs.

“I have been wanting to go back overseas for a long time,” said Pat, who visited Hungary in 1982 touring with a group called the Continental’s, which was based out of Southern California.

“My goal is to be able to do a music mission trip at least once per year.”
